Living in Unconditional Love (258)
“Love flows from God to humans without effort:
As a bird glides through the air without moving its wings-
Thus, they go wherever they wish united in body and soul,
Yet separate in form.”
–Mechtild of Magdeburg
My wife Eileen died from esophageal cancer in February 2020 one year after being diagnosed, 60 years after we met on Long Island. Then my brother Tom became ill (not COVID), and I spent a total of six weeks being with him in Ohio, but he died in October 2020. My sister-in-law Sue Mahoney died from Covid-19 in January 2021. On top of it all stood the pandemic, locking everyone down almost two years. Covid has proved to be a persistent problem, and many of the long-term effects are quite serious, and it has proven much more serious than flu.
03/08/2026 A quiet week, as I stayed home all week. The weather here is fairly consistent in that we have a high of 80 and a low of 70 almost every day, give or take a couple of degrees. It is often quite foggy in the morning, and it is sometimes late in the afternoon that it clears up. The sunset is almost always visible and usually beautiful. A couple of days the seas were unusually rough, with white caps appearing far out to sea. The surfers seemed to love it though as many were seen riding the waves.
The kids started school. Maria started first grade and loves it and seems eager to learn and participate. That is a good start. Maria started Wednesday and had half days with full days starting next week. The other two stated Thursday, with Mackenzie in kindergarten and Madison in preschool. They only went two hours this week, but longer next week.
Wednesday was the 6th anniversary of Eileen’s funeral, and I found it a difficult time. It seems like only yesterday. I know she would love being here with the family.
The furnace remained out and I gave up with the company that was supposed to fix it. I ended up calling my handyman to come in and fix the furnace. He drained the feed lines, added something to the oil to un-gel it, and it fired right up. It took him less than a half hour. I have no idea what the company that I paid to maintain the furnace was doing (nothing it seems like it). I am not a happy camper with them. Since I am not home my son Tim was the active person involved and gave them a very negative review on Google. It has been running fine since then.
I can add nothing to the sad state of our world. T seems determined to conquer the world. I cannot imagine the number of people that will suffer.
Meditation
Gentle One, our world is in such pain I have nothing I can say. I ask for mercy on the millions that are suffering from the wars and starvation brought on by our leaders. I ask for forgiveness for all we as a nation do to harm others. Grant us the joy of helping others and the joy of knowing that we are struggling to be of service.
