Living in Unconditional Love (246)

“Love flows from God to humans without effort:

As a bird glides through the air without moving its wings-

Thus, they go wherever they wish united in body and soul,

Yet separate in form.”

–Mechtild of Magdeburg

My wife Eileen died from esophageal cancer in February 2020 one year after being diagnosed, 60 years after we met on Long Island. Then my brother Tom became ill (not COVID), and I spent a total of six weeks being with him in Ohio, but he died in October 2020. My sister-in-law Sue Mahoney died from Covid-19 in January 2021. On top of it all stood the pandemic, locking everyone down almost two years. Covid has proved to be a persistent problem, and many of the long-term effects are quite serious, and it has proven much more serious than flu.

12/07/2025                             This is a day of infamy as the Japanese destroyed Pearl Harbor in 1941on this day. It is a somber day of remembrances but few if any are alive who were there. I was but 7 at the time so have no real memories of that time, but I vagally recall my parents’ horror.

This has been another quiet week with Dan gone to Orlando for the big trade show. He returned on Friday night. His report was the show was a great success and that everything went well. Only time will tell what comes out of the contacts made at such a show.

The weather here has been highs around 73 or so and mostly hazy scenes preventing good sunsets. But today the sun is shining brightly, and the sky is only slightly hazy, so the sunset should be good.

The younger girls have returned to school as the Christmas parties and fun time is peaking. That leaves the mornings quiet and gives me time for my morning quiet times and pondering life moments. The afternoons are filled with the girls’ chatter and fun moments. It is fun to watch them interact with one another, usually just having fun but sometimes into arguments.

I will be returning home this week, arriving at Barb’s on Wednesday and returning home when Tim and Barb agree. It is cold and snowy which will be quite a change from the balmy 70’s in Lima I am enjoying.

I watch with sadness at the antics of our President as our great nation becomes a cruel leader in causing pain and horror on the poorest of the poor.

Meditation

Gentle One, I lay the problems of family and the world in Your hands to solve with Love. It is painful to watch so many who call themselves Christian chant hatred and commit painful atrocities on the poorest of the poor, ignoring what they claim to be as truly announced by Jesus. May thy find love in their hearts I pray.
