Living in Unconditional Love (241)
“Love flows from God to humans without effort:
As a bird glides through the air without moving its wings-
Thus, they go wherever they wish united in body and soul,
Yet separate in form.”
–Mechtild of Magdeburg
My wife Eileen died from esophageal cancer in February 2020 one year after being diagnosed, 60 years after we met on Long Island. Then my brother Tom became ill (not COVID), and I spent a total of six weeks being with him in Ohio, but he died in October 2020. My sister-in-law Sue Mahoney died from Covid-19 in January 2021. On top of it all stood the pandemic, locking everyone down almost two years. Covid has proved to be a persistent problem, and many of the long-term effects are quite serious, and it has proven much more serious than flu.
11/02/2025 Winter is coming, and my help put the garden to bed this past week. The bonsai were brought in, hoses and statues brought in, and benches covered. They will cover the edible stuff to slow the deer when it turns colder. All looks good, and most of the leaves have fallen and the colors are muted.
We finally had some rain, a good day of supplying moisture that was needed by the thirsty ground. That has helped prepare things for the winter, but it is still warmer than usual even though we have had some heavy frosts and some freezes at night as it dipped into the 20’s a few nights.
It seems hard to believe that the time reverts tonight as I write this. I have already changed some clocks, had a late supper, and I should have no problem tomorrow.
Halloween was last night, and I had my usual number of visitors: NONE. I don’t recall when the last time we had callers. Everyone seems to be afraid of the long driveway leading behind the trees, even though my big light is on.
I am starting to get ready for travel, and I can only take one suitcase plus the carryon as I am going cheap on the way out as it is a day flight. Hopefully I will be able to doze while traveling in the cramped seats. I will be taking some presents from Maureen to the girls and some things that Dan an Alesandra are sending here. It will be warm, so I will take warm travel clothes but will dress for summer while there.
The government closure drags on, and T is trying to use starvation and pain to force the Dems to relent. Hundreds of thousands have died from hunger related problems after T stopped funding overseas food and destroyed the food that was stored. Cruelty will be the mark of his reign of terror, and he is proud of that. All that continue to support T also bears responsibilities for the pain and deaths that are mounting daily.

Gentle One, I place all in Your care, as Trump, with the support of SCOTUS, contuses to inflect incalculable damage on the world. He is proud of the damage as it will mark his place in history as the goal of having his name on high is his only goal. He has no love of any other person than himself, and while we have seen others in the past with the same ideals, almost half the country seems to agree with him, which puts a sad commentary on this once-proud nation.
