Five Fallacies About God (9)
3.God has separated you from God because
You have not given God what God needs. (4)
Even as I have been fully known
1 Corinthians 13:12
These words struck me as never before when I wrote them in the last post, for they spell out the problem we have with all that we are and do. I have stressed that God is within us, in our midst, before us, behind us, over us, and under us. This sounds comforting, and it certainly stresses that we are not alone but lie in the comfort of the Love of our God.
But it also stresses that the shoe fits on the other foot: all that we are and all that we do is known to God. Every thought, every action, every movement, every thought of movement: all is known to God. In fact, since we are a ripple in the ocean of God, in some sense it is God Itself speaking to Itself in our minds. Here we see the ups and downs of everything: all the illusions of what we call life, both the good and bad, are part of the essence of what we have termed God. Our thoughts illustrate boldly in our minds the fullness of the expression of God (joy and happiness) and of not-God (fear and all its’ expressions). When I say ‘not-God’ I do not mean that anything can be ‘not-God’ in truth, but we have forgotten that ever-present Love that is God and the shadows of our memory of that Love is but seen through the glass dimly, as St. Paul expressed it.
That Love is the truth of all that is, both the seen and the unseen. Therefore any thought or action we have or do is part of that Love, fresh or dimly seen, as the case may be. Those thoughts and actions we have are imprinted into out soul, depending if we accept those thoughts or just let them vanish into the mist of time. All thoughts, no matter if we consider them good or bad, arise out of our sub-conscious, based on thoughts and actions that came before, in our personal history.
The presidency run of Donald Trump has revealed a deep and hidden secret in the life of the citizens of our nation: the secret fears that lie hidden in the dark corners of our mind. While the stark fears of anything that is different from ourselves is paramount in the expressions that DT has not been afraid to express is easily seen as the outward expression of them seems to bless our own expressions of these fears, those who find his utterances repugnant are also made aware that we have been fooling ourselves as a nation far too long, and more fears yet arise about how deep these divisions lie.
Yes God sees even these hidden fears, and these hidden fears perpetuate this myth of separation from God: after all, how could a loving God permit expressions of fear and hatred if we are all one? If we were all one, would not our expressions of these fears just not occur? How can all be one in the midst of fears about the diversity of our humanity?
Yes, God sees them all, each and every one of them. As we are expressions of God in truth, we see these fears in relation to our wholeness: unless these fears are expressed and brought to light, we, as God’s face (image) on earth, can not deal with them and remove these fears that have now been expressed from the hidden recesses of our subconscious. Our task, in the future, is to look at these fears and examine them for the illusions they are. We have buried them before now, but as we know, fears buried into our psyche will express themselves, someway, somehow. As we see sadly but hopefully, today.
Are we up to it?
I will sing of your love and justice;
To you, Lord, I will sing praise.
I will be careful to lead a blameless life –
When will You come to me?
Psalm 101 1-2
Meditation
My Font of Wisdom, I now see Your ways of revelation. You reveal Yourself as our great Lover; willing to risk alienating Your felt presence from us but knowing the only way to erase our loneliness and ease the pain of our apparent separateness is to open the sores for all to see. I now understand You have accomplished this before, such as revealing the pain of slavery almost 200 years ago and helping us remove that blister from our mold. Now it is time to face squarely the remnants of that blemish and to remove those remnants that haunt us still. I am grateful for the ripping open of those wounds, and am grateful for your strength to heal them in the future, for I know that the wounds must be made raw for them to heal.
I bow in gratitude.
