Five Fallacies About God (13)
- 1.God Needs something
- 2.God can fail to get what God needs
- 3.God has separated you from God because
You have not given God what God needs.
4.God still needs what God needs
So badly that God now requires you,
From your separated position,
To give it to God.
5.God will destroy you, if
You do not meet God’s requirements.
These five fallacies of God govern almost all religions, especially the major religions, for they all stem from their original sources and the way they were interpreted. It is seemingly impossible to think of a Being, any Being, that truly governs through love. For most of us, it is incomprehensible. No one could love us at a depth that they would face death just to show us their love. Not only face death, but to die a very painful death just to portray their love.
So, of course, most of us choose not to believe the true message of all the Masters, including Jesus. No, the concept of an avenging God, just waiting for a mistake so they could throw a lightning bolt into our midst and delight in the pain it brings. Do this, or die. Do that, or die. Oh yes, I can throw another lightning bolt! Yea! Almost all of us understand God in this simplistic manner, deep in our hearts, no matter what we say externally.
Thus the five fallacies.
The only way past these fallacies is to face them directly. Thus to see these five fallacies written out, and see their dire manner of taste stare at us, helps us to see their error.
But yet we cling to these errors. We know them to be wrong, we want to see them in a new light, but this has been fed to us as truth all of our lives, and it is extremely difficult to see the light of the world in a new light. When push comes to shove, and something happens to us in any negative fashion, we wonder what we have done that God would punish us with this negative event. That feeling of internal pain and resentment towards this phantom God permeates our instantaneous reaction when something occurs, unless we spend time to prepare our reaction in a fashion so that we can view these events as they truly are – as events.
I am going through such a period as I write this. Through a series of very negative events, I have had to take over the role of leading my company and hopefully guide it back to a winning future. The past three weeks have been challenging, to put it mildly, but we hopefully have started to move forward. Much more work to do, and it may take a year or so to get things flowing fully.
Now I could take that as some sort of punishment sent from God for some events in my past, or I could take it as part of the ebb and flow of life and attempt to deal with it with as much love as I can muster. I have chosen the latter approach, even though I must confess some initial reaction that could have been better. But God has been good to me all my life, even through difficult times, and I expect that the goodness of God will flow now, into the future, no matter what is the ultimate outcome of this recent event.
I rest in the loving care of God, now and forever.
Praise the Lord, my soul,
And forget not all God’s benefits-
Who redeems your life from the pit
And crowns you with love and compassion.
Who satisfies your desires with good things
So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
Psalm 103:2-5 (NIV)
Meditation
Oh my Wisdom, I am grateful for your gentle guidance in both the good time and the difficult times I am grateful for your gentle guidance that has always filled my life for over 80 years, and it is present in all that I do. I may not always follow the guidance at that time I first am nudged, but I have learned that all is well only when I follow the intuitive nudges that have guided me through all challenges and all good times of my life. I bow down before you, and lay my burdens in Your loving care, now and for eternity.
