Five Fallacies About God (11)

4.God still needs what God needs

So badly that God now requires you,

From your separated position,

To give it to God. (2)

Over the past 400 years our western society, and therefore our religions as expressed in the western society, has objectivized God, so that God in the general concept is a noun: a separate being that exists somewhere ‘out there’. To confound this, our knowledge of the universe complicates the issue. Since it seems obvious that God does not exist within the universe since science has not found anything that comes remotely close to what can be called God, that ‘somewhere out there’ must far away indeed. Thus we constantly are fearful, since to locate a God that is close seems improbable, despite all the preaching and talking of God being close to us.

 

This thinking stems from the deep felt feeling, indeed, God is separate from us. Nothing that Jesus has said, or all the mystics have repeated over and over, removes that inmost feeling of separation. And since this mighty Being is separate from us, we must find some means to appease this Being of our imagination. We do not hear the words of Jesus on the cross “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” (Luke 23:34, NIV) Those words were not just about those that were crucifying them, no, they were spoken for all of humanity, as those words summed up the meaning of the life of Jesus, for indeed we do not know what we are doing.

 

We have forgotten those words of Jesus I quoted before: “On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me and I am in you.” (John 14:20 (NIV)). God is not an object outside us; God is the embodiment of life itself. Our task here on earth is clear: we must strive to see the truth in that quote of Jesus, that we are in Jesus who is in the Father, therefore we are in the Father, not after death, but right now, here in this life, for eternity.

 

God is not an object, a noun. God is a verb, always active, Loving us into life every moment of our existence. God is not a “thing”, but is a Flow, constantly creating each ‘Now’ that we experience. This creation occurs through you and me, and of us experiencing our own creation in each moment. Yes, as the mystics have told us over the centuries, we are like ‘little gods’, creating our own experiences one moment at a time. Quantum physics puts us as the observer but lying inside what we are observinh, modifying the event by the dynamics of our perception, our radiating energy that energizes the universe wherein we find ourselves immersed. Different language, but then same intent. We are the ones that determine the universe we live in: it can be one of sorrow and woe, or one of joy and bliss. The result is up to each of us.

 

We each have a choice: do we scramble feebly to find something to appease our angry god, or do we let ourselves be swept into the glorious joy of Life that is offered to us now, this very instant?

Meditation

Holy Wisdom, You call my spirit unto your bliss. I respond with a resounding ‘Yes’, and place myself within that spirit that lives within me, Your call that is always present, whispering into my soul to the point that it fills my entire being. I ask for Your blessings, and am grateful for the love that has showered my life. I know that Your Love fills my being, raising me up to the level of bliss that but reflects that love. I know that before I even knew my desires You had already granted them.
