Living in Unconditional Love (226)

“Love flows from God to humans without effort:

As a bird glides through the air without moving its wings-

Thus, they go wherever they wish united in body and soul,

Yet separate in form.”

–Mechtild of Magdeburg

My wife Eileen died from esophageal cancer in February 2020 one year after being diagnosed, 60 years after we met on Long Island. Then my brother Tom became ill (not COVID), and I spent a total of six weeks being with him in Ohio, but he died in October 2020. My sister-in-law Sue Mahoney died from Covid-19 in January 2021. On top of it all stood the pandemic, locking everyone down almost two years. Covid has proved to be a persistent problem, and many of the long-term effects are quite serious, and it has proven much more serious than flu.

07,13,2025                             The Ohio contingent left today, Saturday, and the week certainly went fast. We did not do much, but much chatter and enjoyment just being together. Tim, Julie, and the family came over a few times and we all enjoyed the times. I was happy to see all, and much laughter and remembrances occurred over the days, plus rest and relaxation. Barb is still here for the weekend, and she helped in making sure the sheets were washed, and beds made, and all is back to ‘normal’, whatever state that is. Drew was here with his two young ones last Saturday and we all enjoyed that day with them.

The garden looks beautiful with the daylilies blooming everywhere at their peak and the garden lilies ready to pop with some showing color but only the Asiatics’ blooming. We sprayed some garlic ‘deer-off’ stuff to hopefully repel the deer from munching, and I believe having many people walking around daily kept them away. I am afraid that once I am on my own, they will reappear but hopefully the spray will help. I was told that the spray is really smelly, almost overpoweringly so, so maybe that will work. The deer ate about half the Asiatic lilies and some of the others, but many are showing a good blooming head so the show should be good over the next few weeks.

My generator is down for a couple of weeks while they wait for the part to replace what burnt out to prevent the power transfer. So of course, I lost power three times while company was here, and I had not lost power in six months or more. The unit has a ten-year warrantee, so I won’t be charged for the new part.

Pray for our nation, as the tyrant is demanding the world bow to his power while his “black shirts” storm our cities snatching people all over. He is threatening all who disagree with him to revoke their citizenships (I assume those are naturalized citizens) and throw them out. It sure sounds like the Nazi party in the 1930’s.

Meditation

Gentle One, I lay all before You and seek Your help. I trust You will help ease the pain of those affected, and help those doing causing the pain to come to a realization of what they are doing. Help us all to understand Your command to “Love one another as you love yourself.”
